Are you looking for a placement where you can get some real hands-on experience, learn how a successful business operates, all whilst developing core skills that will become invaluable for your career? If you are someone who is passionate about saving money, has a keen interest in the media and a desire to work in public relations, we’d love to hear from you.
We see real value in nurturing the talent that we hire, and to us, you are not just this year’s student placement, you are an important member of the team, and business. Many of the staff at TopCashback started with us by doing a year in industry and have carved out highly successful careers following this. We believe this is a testament to how we operate as a business, and our recognition and investment in people, above all else.
The Company:
TopCashback is the world’s most generous cashback company. Having been established in the UK in 2005, we are now the UK market leaders in cashback and still developing rapidly. TopCashback has previously featured as one of the fastest growing private companies in the UK for three consecutive years by the Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100 and has been awarded Cashback Site of the year 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2020.
Our worldwide membership is in excess of 20 million and growing. TopCashback is an ethical company and lives by the motto “do as you would be done by”. We extend this way of operating to all of our members, merchants and partners as one of our core values.
The Role:
The Junior Press Officer plays a key role in supporting TopCashback UK’s busy public relations activity. Although part of the job is administrational duties, should you prove that the more mundane tasks can be done quickly and with precision, there will be ample opportunity to develop many more key skills necessary for a job in the industry.
Some of the exciting parts of the role include helping to create proactive media communications targeting the personal finance and consumer media, which are aligned to the PR strategy and overall business priorities. No day is the same though. One day you may be asked to brainstorm creative ideas and craft media angles with the team, another you may be asked to draft a press release or blog for the site. You will also be tasked with monitoring all forms of media, helping the senior team to collate data when required, and are always required to keep an eye out for reactive PR opportunities.
The role will be based in TopCashback’s London office but may occasionally require travel to TopCashback’s HQ in Staffordshire. (If and when the government advises that it is safe to travel and work from an office environment).
Essential Requirements:
Benefits:
Under normal circumstances we also host monthly pizza meetings, team meals and two annual company-wide social events. We also run fundraising events and annual in-house team building – the ‘Hummingbird Games.’ Unfortunately, this year we have not been able to do the majority of these things, but we are hoping to reignite these in full in 2021 (pending government guidance regarding the global pandemic).
Additional Information regarding the global pandemic:
Due to current Covid-19 restrictions and under government guidelines, the company is working remotely, from home. Therefore, candidates who are shortlisted after application, will be interviewed virtually. Depending on how the pandemic evolves or resolves next year, the successful student may be required to work from home, in accordance with what is safe and recommended by the government. Financially, we are in a very strong and secure position – being a profitable owner managed business with no debt – that makes us extremely confident to continue to recruit and expand our operations in all our markets even at this time.
Equal Opportunities:
At TopCashback, since we began, we have been committed to building a fair, diverse and inclusive company. We believe that diversity and nurturing a culture where we can all be our true selves at work, makes us stronger as a business. We celebrate differences and foster a fair and equal environment for us all to flourish in. After all, we spend most of our time together.
With fairness at heart, we‘re committed to being an equal opportunity employer regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, disability, nationality, age or similar. Whoever you are, whatever walk of life you are from, we’ll welcome you to our TopCashback family.
